Start by confirming the legal entity and export history. Ask for the company's tax number, an export registry reference, and at least two buyer references in your target market. Verify certifications directly with the issuing body rather than accepting a PDF at face value.
Next, assess production capacity against your volumes. Request audited capacity figures, machine lists and current lead times, and ask how the factory handles peak-season demand. For regulated products, confirm CE, ISO 22000, BRCGS or IATF 16949 as applicable.
Finally, agree clear commercial terms: Incoterms, payment milestones, inspection rights and a quality agreement. A pre-shipment inspection and a small trial order reduce risk before committing to full volumes.
